JOIN USThe seminar, scheduled for November 17, has been organised by Gram Panchayat Hakkottaya Andolana, in response to the need expressed by the MLCs themselves.
The MLCs will also visit gram panchayats for a better understanding of issues and the current situation in the rural local bodies.
The history of political decentralisation, present situation of gram panchayats, concerns related to good governance, mapping of activities under the different tiers of government and legal provisions of devolution will be the issues addressed at the seminar.
These will lead to developing a joint vision for the future of political decentralisation and the preparation of a road map for 2012-2014, according to a press release by the Andolana.
Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Jagadish Shettar, Legislative Council chairperson D H Shankaramurthy and former minister P G R Sindhia will take part in the event.
