The cash was found in the car of steel merchant Abdul Azeez, who was travelling from Bangalore. Assistant Commissioner Shashikant Senthil said that the money would be returned to Azeez, if he produces relevant documents. The matter was being looked into, Azeez told Deccan Herald.
Deputy Commissioner A A Biswas had stated that those transporting more than Rs 10,000 had to produce the relevant documents, as the model code of conduct for the Bellary bypoll was in force.
