Addressing a press meet here on Tuesday, Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee President Ramanath Rai said that the road from Sampaje to Mani covering distance of 80 km is filled with potholes and is unmotorable. The road must be repaired at the earliest.

State-level leaders will take part in the padayatra. The padayatra will commence from Sampaje. It will pass via Aranthodu and will halt at Sullia. On November 22, the yatra will reach Kanakamajalu and will halt at Kodichar.

The third day, it will reach Puttur where leaders will hold a public meeting.  From Puttur, it will pass through Neralakatte and reach Mani on the fourth day. A valedictory programme will be held at Mani.

As a prelude to the padayatra, the Youth Congress will organise a bike rally at Sullia on November 19.

Rai said that an attempt is made to weaken the institution of Lokayukta in the State. There is a need to strengthen Lokayukta institution by overcoming the loopholes. “The BJP never believed CBI. Now they are blaming Lokayukta. All those leaders who came out of the jail are acting like martyrs, which is an insult to the democracy,” he said.

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Secretary Ivan D’Souza, former MLA Vijay Kumar Shetty, Youth Congress President Mithun Rai, T K Sudhir and others were present.
