BSY bail plea orders today

Justice H Billappa started dictating orders on the anticipatory bail plea of Yeddyurappa, his two sons – B Y Raghavendra, B Y Vijayendra and son-in-law R N Sohan Kumar. However, he said the process of pronouncing the orders would continue on Wednesday.

The Special Lokayukta Court has adjourned the trial of Kolar Gold Fields MLA Y Sampangi to November 22. The Court examined three witnesses on Tuesday, who were summoned during the earlier hearing. Sampangi faces charges of corruption, after he demanded a bribe of Rs five lakh from H M Farooq, a businessman. Sampangi was trapped by the Lokayukta police at the Legislators Home in January 2009, while accepting the bribe.

The Court had earlier remanded Sampangi to judicial custody - when the two main witnesses in the case, Farooq and B P Arun Kumar, deposed before the Court - as it felt that they had to depose in a free and fearless atmosphere. Sampangi was released on a bail of Rs 1 lakh and two sureties.
