'BayB' girl for Abhi-Ash

Legendary actor and proud grandfather Amitabh Bach-chan was quick to post the news of his granddaughter’s birth on the micro-blogging site Twitter: “I AM DADA to the cutest baby girl, A dadaji…ecstatic.” An equally ecstatic father, Abhishek, wrote on Twitter: “IT’S a girl”. Earlier, the elderly Bachchan had broken the news of Aishwarya’s pregnancy on Twitter leading to intense speculation among fans not in the real world but also in cyber world.

Since Tuesday, when Aishwarya was admitted to Seven Hills Hospital, the country in general, and Bollywood in particular, was gripped by the speculation whether it will be a girl or a boy. While mother and daughter are reportedly doing fine, the new entrant to the Bachchan clan is the third grandchild. Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan’s daughter Shweta has two children — Agastya and Navya Naveli.

Reports trickling out of the hospital indicate the delivery was normal and happened just a few minutes before 10 am. 

The 38-year-old actress was taken to the labour room at  4 am, but the delivery took place after nearly six hours. The  Bachchan and Rai families were present at the hospital.
Aishwarya was admitted to hospital Monday night. She is on the fifth floor of the private hospital. Four rooms were booked on the floor and the entire floor was kept out of bounds for all except the relatives.

Security in around the hospital has also been tightened.
Aishwarya married Abhishek in April 2007. In June this year, Amitabh’s announcement of his daughter-in-law’s first pregnancy through micro-blogging site triggered a spate of speculative media reports on the probable gender of the child and delivery date.

As soon as Big B announced that Aishwarya had given birth to a baby girl, congratulatory messages from Bollywood stars started pouring in, welcoming the new arrival in the Bachchan family.

“Congratulations!! Baby B had a baby girl!! @juniorbachchan!!! All the love and happiness...am sure she will be the prettiest girl ever!!! ,” filmmaker Karan Johar wrote on twitter.

“@juniorbachchan how beautiful is this feeling. Allah bless u and Aish. Dying to come & see the three of u...YAY!!!! Now u really r PA lov u,” super star Shah Rukh Khan tweeted.

OMG! So excited Baby B is Daddy to a little Angel! Congrats Ash n @juniorbachchan and to the entire family! Welcome sweet baby girl:),” actress Bipasha Basu said.

Javed Akhtar: “Congratulations Amitabh ji, this has evoked my memory of the day when Shweta was born. Time flies and how swiftly !!”
