Crop failure: Farmer ends life in Deodurg

Basappa Mallappa Hirekubar (45) used to grow cotton and chilli on his two-acre land. The crops withered  since there was no water supply to Narayanapura right bank canal, according to the complaint lodged by Basappa’s son.

Farmers staged a dharna keeping Basappa’s body in front of the government hospital. They blamed the officials of Irrigation Department for the death.
