'KMF is obstructing setting up of dairy unit'

Speaking at the 58th All India Cooperative Week at Narasimharajapura Krishi Bhavan on Saturday, he said district will have 6.50 lakh litre milk with dairy is set up. However, the KMF is not allowing the setting up dairy in the district. |

This is affecting the setting up of Milk Producers Society in the district. All the MLAs from the district will raise the issue of dairy in Chikmagalur in the winter session.

He said “we have already urged to set up godown of Market Federation in Chikmagalur and Malnad. Political interference in Cooperative Societies should be avoided. The cooperative societies should disburse loan to the farmers who have repaid the loans. The godown at Narasimharajapura bus stand will be shifted,” he said.

District Cooperative Central Bank Managing Director B A Mahadevappa said with Prof Vaidyanathan Committee recommendation, a sum of Rs 770 crore has reached cooperative sector from the State government. 18lakh farmers were disbursed with Rs 5,400 crore short term loan.  As many as 1.83 lakh Self-Help Groups are functioning in the State. There is a need to simplify the policy related to disbursement of loan. District Cooperative Union President K T Jagadish presided.
