Address critical issues: RGUHS VC

Last Updated 20 November 2011, 17:14 IST

Speaking at a roundtable discussion, Dr Sriprakash feared that students from rural areas would be at a disadvantage in competing with their peers who had studied in schools affiliated to CBSE and ICSE Boards.

Sriprakash said the subject ought to be discussed in detail before arriving at a decision and that students too should be involved in the process.

Dr Ramanand Shetty, former VC, RGUHS, supported the NEET but said issues such as seat-sharing ratio and counselling should be settled well in advance.

Raghunandan, ABVP South India organising secretary, said that most medical colleges in South India were opposing the NEET and the opposition cannot be ignored.

He said that a delegation of the ABVP would meet Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda to discuss the issue with him.
