The Vasanthanagar corporator, who is one of the main accused in the KIADB land scam, filed the plea on Saturday.

Katta Jagadish is presently lodged in the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison, after his bail was rejected by the Special Lokayukta Court, along with those of his father Katta Subramanya Naidu and the Managing Director of Itasca Software S V Srinivas.

Katta, in his application, cited his father’s ill health as one of the main reasons for seeking bail. Katta Subramanya is presently out on interim bail, to seek treatment for cancer. Katta Subramanya has also been allowed to travel to London for treatment.

Katta Jagadish said he wanted to be with his father during his treatment as he was the only son. Jagadish also cited his mother’s illness although no specific ailment that his mother suffers from has been mentioned. He also maintained that his two-year-old son needed care and attention.

Srinivas too has filed for bail on health and other grounds. Apart from deteriorating health, Srinivas has also maintained that he was not supplied with a copy of the charge sheet against him while filing his bail plea and hence he could not adequately prepare the bail application.

Lokayukta Special Public Prosecutor I S Pramod Chandra will be filing objections to both the bail applications on November 26.

Katta Subramanya Naidu, who has to seek the permission of the Lokayukta court to travel to London, has not filed an application so far seeking permission.

The Lokayukta police on July 8 had submitted a charge sheet to the Special Lokayukta Court against Katta Subramanya Naidu and his son Katta Jagadish for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 87 crore to allot 325 acres of land to Itasca Software Development Company.
