These words of the Buddha have inspired Janet Yagneshwaran in Bangalore, and in the last four years, her treesforfree, a voluntary organization, has helped Bangalore city retain its green cover by planting over 13000 trees, all for free. "What is the use of moaning and groaning  that trees are getting chopped off? Do something about it. Plant new ones," she says.

She does it for free, has built up a keen set of volunteers (you can join them contact website www.treesforfree.org) and covered different parts of the cityand outskirts.  You just have to ask by calling 9845449703 and she will bring saplings in her car and plant them, provided you promise to water and look after them. If you want to donate something to defray her cost of petrol and saplings, that's your choice.

She was doing this, using her 6 year old Maruti Zen and the last four years' efforts  have taken their toll and the car is broken down. This could mean fewer trees near your home, which means more pollution and less rain. She has appealed that if 4000 persons donate Rs.100 each, she can purchase a  new suitable vehicle for treesforfree for Rs. 4 lakhs.

Her handwritten letter is attached. Contact her at 98454 49703 or website www.treesforfree.org.
