JFHA meet from Nov 24

In a first for inter-school tournaments in the City, all the matches of the three-day event will be played under floodlights with the emphasis being on kids getting an international feeling.

St Joseph’s Indian High School, Maria Niketan High School -- where Jude Felix’s Academy is based -- Vinay Kumar High School (Ananthpur) and St Joseph’s Boys High School will be the other participants with Bishop Cottons Boys School likely to be the sixth team. The teams will play each other once with winner of the league adjudged the champion.

“Having organised a small exhibition tournament earlier, we’ve decided to go one step higher this time,” said P Shanmugham, trustee of JFHA and a former player himself.

“Being a charitable trust, it was hard to get the funds but with some really good benefactors we’ve being able to pull it off.”

Launched in January 2009 with just 30 kids, the JFHA now trains 70 kids from St Mary’s Orphanage.  Shanmugham and a few other former and current players train and groom the kids.
