On Monday, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) had submitted a report to the court stating that the encounter was fake. During the hearing on which agency will investigate further, the counsels for the victims were against further probe either by the state police or CBI. While the High Court and the victims agree on a probe by the Special Investigation Team, the state government is opposed to it.
Advocate General of Gujarat Kamal Trivedi agreed to further probe by any other agency, including CBI, but did not favour the SIT continuing the probe. Notably, after Satish Verma, one of the SIT members had filed an affidavit in the High Court in January this year, the state government had reopened an old case of RDX landing at Gosabara near Porbandar, against Verma, which dates back to 1993.
