ND Opara drew first blood for Churchill in the 49th minute before Chidi Edeh equalised for Salgaocar in the 71st minute.

Churchill moved to third with 14 points from 7 matches while Salgaocar have 8 points from 7 matches.

Both the teams started on attacking mode and seemed eager to draw first blood. There was plenty of goal-mouth action but the final touch was missing at either end. Salgaocar, in particular, had more attempts on goal in the first session and had it not been for an alert Churchill goalkeeper Felix D’Souza, the defending champions would have been at least two goals ahead. Felix was at his best early in the game when he dived full-length to block Chidi’s header. A few minutes later, Chidi again found himself in space, but Felix proved equal to the task again.

At the Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune, Mandjou Keita and Othallo Tabia gave Pune FC a much-needed victory with a 2-0 win over Air India.

Keita converted a penalty-kick in the 41st minute, while substitute Othallo scored in the 70th.

The win provided Pune a lift from 11th to ninth position as they now have eight points from seven matches.

In Kolkata, Pailan Arrows failed to cash in on their numerical advantage, after Chirag United Kerala had Charles Dzisah sent off, to settle for a 1-1 draw at the Salt Lake Stadium.

For Pailan Arrows, CS Sabeeth scored the equaliser in the 53rd minute after Saba Saleel had put Chirag in the lead in the 30th minute. Pailan Arrows have 3 points from seven matches while Chirag Kerala have four.
