Kengeri traffic inspector in Lokayukta net

Vasudev Nayak seized two trucks belonging to Arshad Shariff and demanded Rs 2 lakh for the release of the vehicles.

After negotiations, he brought it down to Rs 1.5 lakh, but insisted that the money should be handed over before Saturday.

Shariff then approached the Lokayukta police. On Saturday, when the trucker went to hand over the money to the inspector, the latter directed him to hand it over to Ganesh Nayak, his aide.

Ganesh Nayak fled as soon as he got the money and the Lokayukta cops failed to catch him.

However, the Lokayukta officers are confident of arresting Ganesh Nayak as they have captured the entire episode on camera and have also recorded Vasudev’s telephone conversations. Vasudev has been taken into custody. During interrogation, he failed to give convincing answers, sources said.
