<p>M Gayathri (22) reportedly hanged herself from the ceiling fan using a veil between 1.30 pm and 6 pm when her parents and brother were away. Police were informed late in the evening. No death note was found. <br /><br />Gayathri’s family and teachers were more than shocked at her suicide since she was “a brilliant student and did not appear to have any issues at all.” <br /><br />Gayathri, born to Muniswamy Reddy and Manjula, was a student of 7th Semester BE (Computer Science) at the Shirdi Sai Engineering College, Anekal. <br /><br />Although her family told the police that she probably suffered from stomach ache, the reason for her extreme step is not known.<br /><br />The college Principal, T V Govindaraju, described Gayathri as a “very decent and studious girl.” “She did not have any arrears (subject backlogs). We were stunned to know that she ended her life,” Govindaraju told Deccan Herald. <br /><br />B Shadaksharappa, Head, Department of Computer Science, said the last time Gayathri probably attended the classes was on November 24. “She had come for the practical examination,” he said. <br /><br />She scored well in the internal assessment and was preparing for semester examinations set to commence on December 7. <br /><br />“On an average, she scored 23 marks out of 25 in all the six subjects,” he added. Shadaksharappa is certain that Gayathri ended her life only for unknown personal reasons. <br />Reddy is a plumber and Manjula works at a garment factory. Gayathri’s brother Naveen is employed. The body was handed over to the relatives after a post-mortem. Parappana Agrahara police have booked a case of unnatural death.</p>
