Siddu seeks CBI probe into BBMP scam

Addressing the media in Bangalore, Siddaramaiah said neither he nor his partymen had the confidence that the CID would conduct an impartial inquiry. The agency has been entrusted with the responsibility of investigating into the irregularities and the fire incident at the BMTF police station.

Siddaramaiah said past experiences have proved that one could not expect justice from the CID.

“Let there be a thorough inquiry by an independent agency. The BJP government has deliberately handed over the probe to the CID, despite continued demands that the matter be referred to the CBI. The CID is directly under the State government, and there is no guarantee of an impartial probe.”

Siddaramaiah also wondered why the government had not roped in the Lokayukta to investigate the misappropriations case. He said former BBMP commissioner Siddaiah had been shunted out purposely.

“He has been transferred under pressure. There was no need for his transfer, especially when he had exposed the scam to the fore. There were neither any complaints against him nor he faced any corruption charges,” Siddaramaiah said.
