Agna, in collaboration with The Collective is hosting Pixels and Palettes, photography exhibition of works of Ramnath Siva and Ashok Sravanan.
The photographs are a collection of everyday imagery that takes one beyond what one sees. These images capture the essence and character of the subject, displayed in vibrant colours and textures.
Ramnath Siva’s interest for photography started during his college days. As soon as he rediscovered his artistic self, he took his passion for photography to the next level. He spent over a year attending various courses at the Chicago Photography Centre and also volunteered there as digital photography instructor before he moved back to India in 2007. Ramnath's works show him giving a great deal of attention to colours, lines and composition. While not entirely minimalistic, Ramnath believes in capturing only the essence of the scene or object and leaving out extraneous distractions. The idea is to strike a balance between the reality of the street scene and his artistic vision. Colours, textures and graphics are to Ay Ashok Saravanan what musical notes are to a musician. Ashok started his profession as a graphic designer, editing pictures using tools and now, he is pursuing this with his camera. He believes in framing the subject first in his mind, adds textures, tones and angles to it, and then capture it.
Ashok believes that the best thing he has gained from being a photographer is that he has learnt to look at the world around him in different ways. Ashok draws inspiration from his village roots giving him a brilliant insight into his subject's character and helps him bring out the rustic flavour in his images. He does not emphasise on one particular type of subject although his soul is in street photography.

The exhibition will open at The Collective on May 15.
