Officials say that lack of office space has led to this unanimous decision. “The proposal will be presented on the 150th anniversary of ASI to the Prime Minister who will inaugurate the function. Like other departments even we should have a distinguished office in the city,” said P.B.S Senger director of Institute of Archaeology and Regional Director (North). The ASI's present office is on Janpath Road next to the National Museum.
To commemorate the founding year of ASI in December 1861, the organisation has listed series of events.
