Asphalt of the double road has given away, exposing the gravel, due to the heavy vehicular movement.

The state of the road has deteriorated in the past two years. Adding to the woes is the ongoing construction of railway overbridge and stormwater drainage.

Potholes and the ongoing construction work have encroached upon the footpath, hardly allowing any walking space to pedestrians. Galpete Police Station and police quarters too are situated on the double road thus making the travel experience of residents, Zilla Panchayat members and the police nightmarish.

Recently, hundreds of villagers expressed their ire over the state of road at a meeting, which saw the participation of Union Minister of State for Railways K H Muniyappa, Zilla Panchayat president Manjula and others.

Based on a report that appeared in the Deccan Herald last year, on the abysmal condition of the road, patch work was done.

However, in no time the asphalting of the road gave away, exposing the sub-standard work.

“The district in-charge minister who promised to develop roads in the district on par with Mysore and Bangalore has failed to act,” said residents Raghavendra, Shamsheer and Ramachandra.
