Theft in three houses

According to the police, thieves struck at the residence of Venkat Sai on 5th Cross, Domlur. A manager with a private firm Venkata Sai and his wife, a software engineer, were away on duty when the thieves barged into their house in broad daylight and decamped with valuables worth Rs one lakh. Venkat Sai has lodged a complaint with the Halasur police station.

The second incident took place in Koramangala. The complainant is an electronics engineer at a firm on MG Road. He had gone to a temple in Shivajinagar when the thieves made away with 144 grams of gold, 15 kg of silver, Rs 1.25 lakh in cash and some other valuables. The total loss is estimated to be around Rs 10 lakh.

In another incident at Kalahasti Nagar under Peenya police station limits, a house was burgled when owner, Nandavathi had gone out. The loss is yet to be estimated.

5 arrested

The City Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths arrested five persons for allegedly selling pirated movies and recovered 24,500 fake DVDs, VCDs and MP3 CDs of recently released English, Kannada, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu movies worth Rs 25 lakh.

The police raided Sadaf Video Palace and Mohsin Video Shop on DK Street in Shivajinagar police limits and arrested Wahid, Baburaj, Mohammad Kizar, Aslam Pasha and Irfan. Two other accused, Mohsin and Sharif, are absconding. They had stored the CDs in their shops and a godown in the area.
