‘Chaipatty’, a year-old eating joint, on 100 Feet Road, Indiranagar, is the perfect place to hop in for a steaming hot cup of chai and some crisp pakoras.

Talking more about the ambience, Chirag Yadav, the owner, says that he wanted to match the menu to the ambience. The moddas and diwans blend with the kullad chai, pakoras and Maggi, that are similar to what one dishes up at home.

“There was a time when people were uncomfortable sitting on moddas and that’s what drove them to these huge coffee chains. But the homely service, great food and the unique approachability of the space is what contributed to the popularity of the place,” explains Chirag.

Chirag recollects that he wanted to introduce different flavours of tea but he soon realised that people couldn’t tell one tea from the other. Hence he zeroed in on the idea of a good home chai, served in a Kullad or cutting glass with variants in lemon, mint and ginger.

The popular dishes at ‘Chaipatty’ are pakoras, Maggi and momos. The pakoras are fast-moving and the sausages, English Breakfast and momos are a big hit too.

‘Chaipatty’ satiates those with an urge to snack in the evening. There are a few exclusive dishes such as the corn churmur and aaloo mutter bhaaji with bread. “We will soon introduce Maggi manchurian and a few more dishes that one wouldn’t find anywhere else,” informs Chirag and adds, “We wanted this to be a snack place for the perfect chai time get together for friends and colleagues. Also families can enjoy their time over pakoras, momos and pastas.”

Chirag says he doesn’t compromise on the cleanliness of the place and makes sure that the food is served fresh and hot.

“Nothing is made in advance and kept except for the cakes and muffins. Our sandwiches are made fresh. Pakoras are fried only when an order is placed. This being an open verandah with the main road right next to us, little can be done to shield the dust and noise. At best, we can serve hot food,” explains Chirag.

The menu is no doubt attractive and the temptation to stop by and grab a quick bite is irresistible and what’s more inviting is the cost. “It’s a lot cheaper and affordable than most posh cafes around the place. We plan on extending the menu to include newer items, bigger portions and revamp the prices for the otherwise pricey items,” Chirag
informs.

A lot of people who work around the place step in for a quick chai. Prashanth with Inmobi says he comes here quite often for the Maggi. “It’s not the usual Maggi. There are additions that make the dish popular. And I never leave without a chai,” he says. Seema Malhotra, a student with New Horizon College, says, “The place is clean, the food is tasty and it’s easy on the pocket.”

‘Chaipatty’ is located at 772, 100 feet Road, opposite Food World, Indiranagar. For details, call 41534140.
