Animal Husbandry Minister A Manju has, at last, ended his long search for a place in the Vidhana Soudha for setting up his office.

After scouting for a spacious and vastu-compliant room for close to one-and-a-half months, the minister on Sunday inaugurated his office at room 260 on the second floor of the Vidhana Soudha. Though he took an oath as the minister on October 30, he was unable to get a room of his choice so far.

Sources close to the minister said Manju had initially requested Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to allot a room on the third floor of the Vidhana Soudha, which is normally reserved for senior Cabinet ministers. But his request was turned down. Instead, the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR) allotted him a room at the Vikasa Soudha, which the minister refused to accept.

The Animal Husbandry minister then sought room 205 at the Vidhana Soudha which Home Minister G Parameshwara declined to occupy.

But Kannada Development Authority (KDA) chairman L Hanumanthaiah managed to get back room 205. The KDA was occupying the room before it was allotted to the Home minister.

The DPAR then offered room 206 at the Vidhana Soudha to Manju. He declined to occupy it, as it was not spacious and vastu-complaint, the sources added.

At last he managed to get room 260. Manju, who is a three-time MLA from Arakalgud constituency in Hassan district, inaugurated his office by conducting pooja along with his family members.
