Old murder case solved: 6 arrested


One Siddappa (36) a native of Bagalkote was murdered and buried at Ballur Gudde in Kannur on the outskirts of Mangalore on December 6, 2007. He was a labourer in Mangalore.

He was murdered by his wife Renuka Kasthuri along with five others. Other accused are Mohammed Anwar, Mohammed Naufal, Abdul Basheer, Mohammed Saleem, Mohammed Naushad.

It was said that Siddappa had married Renuka Kasthuri eight years ago. Prior to this, she had married her mother’s brother when she was very young and she was not interested in that marriage.

Later, she eloped with Siddappa and married him. However, after coming to Mangalore, she had an illegitimate affair with Anwar, a native of Kannur.

Anwar along with his friends planned the murder and killed Siddappa by tying a nylon rope around his neck at Ballur Gudde and buried the body. After the murder, Renuka started residing at Birpugudde with her son and daughter. In the meantime, she joined her son Ravi to Prajna Centre and took her daughter Manjula to Bagalkot four months ago. In fact, she had married certain Raju 10 days ago in Bagalkot.

Man dies in mishap

A man was thrown out of the bus and died on the spot at Konchady.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as Rajesh (35), a resident of Ballal Bhag. Rash and negligent driving is said to be the reason for mishap. A case has been registered.

7 held for gambling

Police arrested seven persons for gambling at Uppinangady.

Acting on a tip off, police raided and seized nine cocks and Rs 345. The arrested are Satheesha Acharya (35), Ramanna Gowda (60), Kariyappa Gowda (60), Mahabala Rai (46), Kunhinna Poojary (55), Vishwanatha Kumbara (40) and Yelyanna Gowda. The accused were indulged in betting on cock fighting.
