Firemen assaulted

On Tuesday morning, an angry Regional Fire Officer (RFO) reportedly lost his cool and slapped his subordinates in his chamber. The RFO is said to have used foul language and ill-treated them.

Inspector General, Shivakumar, confirming the incident to Deccan Herald said: “There seems to be something wrong. We have ordered an inquiry and soon the truth will be out.”

The three-day annual sports meet of the Fire Force department is scheduled to start from Wednesday. The three firemen –– Manjunath, Yogesh and Nagaraj –– were deputed for the event. The victims said around 8 am, they landed at the venue and as per the instructions discharged their duty.

After an hour, they went for breakfast. “Regional FO Ramaswamy rained abuses and called us to his chamber. He then slapped us,” they added. It is not clear what angered the RFO. He was not available for comment.
