Gagan Kapoor, who runs a business of manufacturing stickers and also specialises in the informal business of encashing demand drafts at discount, was robbed at gun point in Geeta Colony on Sunday. Two motorcycles-borne youths had robbed Kapoor of the bag containing Rs 20 lakh cash and demand draft worth Rs 5 lakh and valuables.

“The robbers were helped by the 41-year-old’s predictable routine of leaving his house  with large amounts of cash,” the Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Prabhakar
said and added special teams were constituted to work on various possibilities to crack the case.

“Kapoor revealed that he had received unusual calls during the last 24 hours. Two of such callers who were local residents, therefore, have been interrogated at length by the AATS team. One such caller, a Krishna Nagar resident, and a neighbour of the complainant broke down after interrogation and confessed to have hatched the conspiracy,” he added.

The police then arrested Sachin, 22, a garment factory worker at Gandhi Nagar, Gurmail Singh, 36, a Granthi in a Gurudwara at Jagat Puri, Gaurav, 23, a musician at a Gurudwara in Malviya Nagar, Kishan Pal, 34, a driver and Amrik Singh, 22.

Police recovered Rs 16.99 lakh and valuables.
