M'lore docs remove rare tumour

According to a press release, Zainaba was diagnosed of cardiac tumour two years ago, but could not undergo the surgery due to financial problems. Fifteen days ago she presented features of heart failure, had breathing difficulty and massive swelling of abdomen and legs. The tumour in her heart was obstructing the mitral valve, increasing the lung pressure and causing heart failure.

The open heart surgery was conducted by Chief Cardiac Surgeon Dr Harish R, Dr Gopalakrishna and Cardiac Anaesthetist Dr Rakesh M G. The surgery lasted for 5 hours during which the tumour was removed and sent for biopsy. The patient has recovered and is ready for discharge, informed a press release.
