Shivappa, a resident of Pachanadi, deposed before Legal Advisor to JBKSCOI Justice Raviprakash and produced documents related to the Kursugudde incident. It can be recalled that a group of miscreants had demolished holy cross and a statue of Mary, which was being worshiped at a disputed land at Kursugudde, on August 23, 2008. The group also had hoisted ‘Bhagawadwajas’ (Hindu flags) at the site, which is said to be a government land. The incident had ignited a communal clash between two communities in the region and later the issue was solved temporarily by the district administration.

Shivappa produced the copy of RTC and copies of the memorandums sent to various officials concerned regarding the issue. He attached the copy of another memorandum which was sent to the government by the villagers seeking sanction of the said land for the poor. In addition, Shivappa also produced the copy of a memorandum submitted to the then Fact Finding Committee and newspaper reports on the incidents.
Affidavits of 31 witnesses were verified on Tuesday.
