21 patients test positive for flu virus

The flu has already claimed 15 lives, and with Tuesday’s fresh cases, the total number of positive cases has gone up to 345 in the State. While Bangalore had 15 positive cases, Belgaum and Davanagere reported three cases each.

Meanwhile, 210 persons were screened at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases (RGICD) and 29 swabs were collected on Tuesday. Two suspected patients were also admitted to the hospital. A 27-year-old woman suspected with the H1N1 Influenza was admitted to the ICU and is in a critical condition, while a 25-year-old asthmatic patient was referred from another hospital. At present, the hospital has two suspected patients in ICU, one suspected and one positive patient in the general ward. 

Victoria Hospital screened 76 persons. Out of these cases, four swab samples were collected and sent to Nimhans. However, no new admissions were recorded. One person, who tested positive, volunteered for home quarantine. Currently, there are eight suspected patients in the hospital. In fact, the doctors at the hospital said that the number of people coming for screening had come down in the last three days.

Lakeside Hospital has five suspected H1N1 Influenza cases, while Sagar Hospital has seven admitted patients, out of which two have been tested positive. Apollo Hospital has six suspected H1N1 patients and one positive patient, who is in a critical condition and is on ventilator.
