Vaas game for T20

Last Updated 12 May 2009, 17:12 IST

Vaas, who was warming the bench in the Indian Premier League (IPL) so far, made a sensational start with two crucial blows upfront from where the Royals could never recover.

The medium-pacer took two wickets in his first two overs and also contributed 20 runs off 15 balls to give a late thrust to Chargers innings.

Vaas said it was his experience that helped him bowl well despite a long lay-off.

“I was playing after two months. I used my experience and resorted to bowling slower balls as the pitch was favouring that. I stuck to my basics and it helped. I have showed that I can play in a T20 as well. We needed a victory and I am happy we won. We will try to win the coming matches as well.” he said.

Vaas trapped Graeme Smith with his first ball and then dismissed Lee Carseldine as Chargers pulled off a comprehensive 53-run win over Royals.
