He was speaking after distributing free notebooks and uniforms to students at Huralagere High School in Malur taluk.
Every Indian should vow to combat terrorism, poverty and illiteracy that is plaguing our nation, Eshwarappa urged.
He said, freedom struggle then was the mission of each and every youth. Today, the nation needeed freedom from various ills and maladies, which were bugging the society. Todays youths need to fight these out, he added.
Students who passed SSLC exams in first division in the year 2008-09 were given cash prize of Rs 1,000 each.
