He was speaking after inaugurating the 94th birth anniversary celebrations of former chief minister late Devaraj Urs here on Tuesday. The celebrations was jointly organised by district administration, Zilla Panchayat and Backwardclass and Minorities Welfare Department.
“Urs by bringing land reforms in the State enforced the law that tillers were the rightful owners of the land. This provided land ownership to the workers which brought about social revolution,” said Khan who lauded Urs’s contributions.
Deputy Commissioner Anwar Pasha said that Devaraj Urs heralded many schemes in the State which were relevant even to this day.
Zilla Panchayat Vice-President C V Venkatesh said that the credit of reforming the lives of marginalised people goes to Devaraj Urs.
City Municipal Council President M Prakash and others spoke on the occasion. The minister felicitated meritorious students on the occasion.
