The police said, three years back, Sahithya, a native of Ananthpura, Andhra Pradesh was married to Manjunath, a railway employee and the couple had a son.

The girl's mother has complained of dowry harassment by Manjunath and informed the cops that at the time of marriage they had paid Rs 4 lakh in cash and gold jewellery worth Rs 2 lakh.

Often, Manjunath was taunting and harassing Sahithya for money. Meanwhile, neighbours have given a conflicting version: They said the families had a strong belief in black magic and were in the habit of roping in people to perform various poojas.

For the last several months, Manjunath was of the opinion that Sahithya had brought bad luck to him and was a stumbling block for his success.

They also alleged that Manjunath had an illicit relationship and that might have worsened the situation.

Autodriver robbed

A five-member gang picked up a fight over engaging an autorickshaw at Basaweshwaranagar stand and finally, they whisked away the driver, snatched his wallet and valuables and threw him out of the vehicle near Peenya on Tuesday night.
Ramesh, the autodriver, has complained to the police that five men woke him up while he was fast asleep in his vehicle and wanted them to be dropped at Peenya. When he refused, they forcibly bundled him into the auto and took him away. On reaching their destination, the gang snatched his wallet, deserted him and fled with the autorickshaw. Cops are searching for the autorickshaw in order to solve the robbery case.

Driver hangs self

A 30-year-old autorickshaw driver hanged himself at his 5th Cross, Laxmipura residence in KG Nagar on Wednesday.

The police said Umesh has left a death note and blamed himself for the turn of events in his life. He was married and a native of Bommanahalli. After the postmortem at Victoria hospital, the body was handed over to his family.

Gold chain snatched

Two motorcycle-borne miscreants snatched a gold chain worth around Rs 50,000 from a woman  near Vinayaka Layout in CK Achukattu on Wednesday morning.

The complainant has stated that while she was heading home, two youths riding a bike came from behind and took away her gold chain. The incident took place near Vinayaka temple, around 8.30 am.
