Seven people washed away in TN

 Seven people, all from the same family, are feared dead, swept away by strong currents in the Cauvery River near the Ottapulli barrage near Pallipalayam in Tamil Nadu’s Namakkal district on Sunday.

Police from Pallipalayam said over the phone this even­ing that so far only one body of an 11-year-old girl of the family who met with a watery grave, had been traced.

The tragedy occurred when the holiday revelers, believed to have come on a Christmas vacation from Saudi Arabia to their relatives place in nearby Erode, had stepped into the river for bathing, just behind the barrage.

But a sudden surge of water flow devastatingly washed all of them away.
