Probe sought into Sindhagi flag incident

Last Updated 09 January 2012, 17:20 IST

The Karnataka Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (KPYCC) on Monday appealed to Governor H R Bhardwaj to direct the State government to order an investigation by an independent agency to look into the Pakistan flag-hoisting episode at Sindhagi.

A memorandum submitted by KPYCC president Rizwan Arshad to the Governor claimed that seven members of the Srirama Sene and some fundamentalists hoisted the Pakistan flag at Sindhagi on January 1 with an intention to fan communal violence.

The party alleged that the flag was hoisted at the behest of the BJP and organisations such as the RSS, Bajrang Dal and Srirama Sene.

The KPYCC will stage a statewide protest against the BJP government for “not fulfilling its promise of creating one lakh jobs for the youth every year.
