Shruthi is hitting the headlines in the recent days as she has approached court seeking divorce from husband Mahendra. However, she said that she would not mind giving up her position if the party demands. “People of Karnataka have given me love and affection as a member of their family. As long as I enjoy their blessings I don’t bother about losing any position,” she said. The actress said that BJP State president D V Sadananda Gowda spoke to her on Tuesday and conveyed her that she need not to be worried about losing her position.

“Sadananda Gowda told me that he spoke to Mahendar and tried to avoid breaking up of the relationship. He said there were questions from media and partymen on me continuing in the position. The president said that the party would take a decision if party leaders demand her resignation. But he assured me not to worry about losing the position,” she said.

Surprisingly, Sadananda Gowda said he did not speak to Shruthi. When Gowda was contacted over phone he said “I don’t know where she is. I did not speak to her at all,” he said. He reiterated that the party would take a decision if at all the issue was raised in the party meetings following the election results. However, many in the political circles believe that she should not continue as chairperson of the commission.

Pramila Nesargi said, “I don’t say she should quit the post because she has applied for divorce. When her petition is pending before court she should not have come out with her future plans of marriage,” she said. “I feel she should not continue as chairperson of the commission, which is meant for welfare of women,” she said.
