Factory worker killed after falling on cutting machine

A worker at a plastic recycling unit was killed when he fell on a huge cutting machine following a minor blast in the factory at HSR Layout on Wednesday.

Niranjan (31), a native of Bihar, was working for Surya Plastics situated at Rami Reddy Layout near Kaigondanahalli bus stop on Sarjapura Main Road.

Murugan, the owner of the unit, was into buying plastic containers and other waste materials, cutting them into pieces and selling them.

For the last two years, Niranjan was with him and he was also staying on the premises.
The accident occurred around 11 am when a chemical container exploded.

Niranjan, who was engrossed in work, fell on the cutting machine, said the police.

Student found hanging

A BTech graduate was found hanging at a paying guest accommodation in Maruti Nagar in Madiwala on Tuesday.

Deepti (23), a native of Dharmavaram, in Ananthapura district of Andhra Pradesh, had come to the City in search of a job. She was upset that despite having a technical degree she was not getting a suitable job. Deepti had gone to her native place and had returned to the City only on Tuesday.

She had told her roommates that her parents had raised loans for her education and was tired of searching for a job. She was found hanging when her roommates returned to the room.

Another cop dies on duty

An Assistant Sub-Inspector of police attached to Vyalikaval police station died of heart attack while on duty on Wednesday morning.

Nanjunde Gowda (52), a native of Jutanahalli in Channarayapatna taulk, Hassan, was in Vyalikaval police station for the last four years.

Rudrappa, a head constable, who was with Gowda minutes before his death, said: “Gowda, who was on rounds, stopped near Chowdiah Memorial Hall to have his breakfast. Before he could open his tiffin box, he collapsed.” Though he was shifted to a hospital, the doctors declared him brought dead.

Gowda had two children. His elder son had committed suicide and the younger one is studying dental science. On January 4, a head constable, Janardhan, 32, attached to Ashok Nagar traffic police station, died of heart attack while taking part in a parade at CAR Ground.

Worker electrocuted

A worker digging a pit to lay pipes was electrocuted at Tigalarapalya near Byadarahalli post off Kamakshipalya on Wednesday.

Krishnappa (40), father of three children, is the dead. Another helper, who was assisting him, escaped with minor injuries. They were hired by a plumbing contractor for the work.

Krishnappa, who was using a crow bar for digging the pit, accidentally came in contact with a live wire underneath and got electrocuted. The helper was injured when Krishnappa fell on him due to the shock.

Prostitution racket busted

The Central Crime Branch’s (CCB) Women and Narcotics Division, on Wednesday arrested three persons in connection with a prostitution racket. The accused have been identified as Lingaraju, 33, Sonu, 24 and Mallika, 22.

“Both the women are from North India and the man facilitating the trade is from Kollegal,” a CCB press release said. Rs 2,000 in cash and four mobile phones have been recovered from them. Another person involved in the racket, Raveesh, is absconding.

The accused were luring customers on the internet in the guise of a massage parlour. They were operating from a house in Domlur 2nd Stage.

In another case, the CCB has arrested three persons for selling kerosene in black market. The accused have been identified as Ravi, 20, Syed, 19 and Iliyas Khan, 31.

The arrested were selling kerosene in Aravindanagar, Nehru Road, Banaswadi. About 600 litres of kerosene worth approximately Rs 1.5 lakh and a car was recovered from them.
