Two persons were arrested for raping a 21-year-old married woman and attempting to rape her sister-in-law on the pretext of providing them with jobs, police said on Thursday.

Chanderpal, 38, and Kanwar Singh, 45, of Gautam Budh Nagar in Uttar Pradesh, were held on Monday from their homes, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (east) Prabhakar.

The incident was reported at Shakarpur police station on January 6. Chanderpal, pretending to be Amit, was a driver and Kanwar Singh, who posed as Sonu Bhati, ran a tea shop in Sector-151 in Noida.

The women were lured to Noida Sector-18 on the promise of employment, offered through a placement agency – Online Job Services – located at Laxmi Nagar in east Delhi.

They told police that they were referred to ‘Amit’. He took them on his motorcycle to various private sector companies in Noida Sector-18 and 135. They were later asked to get into a car, driven by ‘Sonu Bhati’. Both of them raped the victim but her 21-year-old sister-in-law managed to flee.
