South Korean Song Ji Hoon nicknamed Alex is a favourite among students of Government Higher Primary School at K G Koppal in the city as he is a good singer.

Singing Korean tunes, he has managed to grab the attention of the children studying in the school.

Alex is part of an 11-member team, which has been spending time with students of the school during the last week as part of a cultural exchange programme organised by Field Service and Inter-culture Learning. Each member of the group has in their own way caught the attention of students of the school.

A group of students from the school even recited South Korean songs taught by Alex and his team mates. During their two-week stay ending on January 22, members of the South Korean team would be involved in giving the classrooms a facelift by repainting them. They would also plant 25 saplings on the school premises.

While, the manual work such as painting and planting saplings is undertaken in the morning, South Koreans interact with students of different classes, teaching various aspects of their culture.

Children are also involved in creative work such as paper craft and memory games.
While pronouncing their Korean names has turned out to be difficult to children, the organisers have given English names to each member of the team. Speaking to Deccan Herald, manager Jeon Yongha said he was enjoying with the students. He said after speaking to students, he came to know about various places in the city that he should visit.

The team is led by Lee Sangtak comprises Choi Byung Dae, Ryu Heon Young, Kim Hee Cheol, Lee Eun Hae, Park Hyeon Ji, Knak Da Yeong, Jeom Hyeon Hee and Yeom Hyeon Woo. They were assisted by National Service Scheme volunteers from Jnanadeepa First Grade College, including Nagesh M, Nandini B, S Roopini, Sangeetha F and Manu T M.
The group of students from the city college said that spending time with the foreign group helped them know more about the people of South Korea.
