"Those who try to defame Lord Jagannath should apologise. The union home minister must ban the film as it hurts the sentiments of crores of Hindus," Swami Nischalananda Saraswati told reporters.
Noting that it was the duty of the Centre to protect rights of every religious group, Saraswati said cinema hall owners should also protest against such violation.
Puri MLA Maheswar Mohanty (BJD) also demanded an apology from the director and producer of the film.

In a scene in the Shahid Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra- starrer, a graffiti is shown saying "Apna Haat Jagannath".
The issue has raised a hue and cry in the state with a FIR being filed against UTV Motion Picture, the maker of "Kaminey" at a police station in Puri.
