Principals of over a hundred colleges in the city met on Tuesday and submitted a memorandum to this effect to the BU Vice-Chancellor.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, the Principal of Ammani College, Professor Bharati said “We have submitted a memorandum asking for the examinations of odd semesters to be conducted by the colleges themselves. This of course is subject to the approval of the academy council.”  She added that the vice-chancellor was positive and receptive about the suggestions and has promised to implement the new system.

The Vice-Chancellor had reportedly invited the Principals of various colleges in the city for a meeting to put forth their suggestions to reform the examination system.

Several principals in the city admittedly expressed their concerns about the current system of evaluation, appointment of custodians for exams, re-evaluation, issues with marks cards, non-declaration of results etc.

“We expressed the logistical problems that the university, colleges and evaluators are facing under the semester system. All of us expressed the same concerns more or less and we’re hoping for a revamp of many things in the current system,” Professor Bharati said.

The Vice-Chancellor reportedly asked the principals to take responsibility and make sure that teachers from their respective colleges attend evaluation.

Some of the other suggestions included remuneration for teachers be given on the last day of evaluation itself and the arrangement of food and other facilities for teachers during evaluation.

The Vice-Chancellor has invited Principals of colleges from rural areas that come under Bangalore University for a similar meeting on Wednesday where their suggestions will be discussed.
