Rahul attacks Mulayam, Mayawati

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi on Friday attacked Samajwadi Party (SP) Supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav and the BSP chief Myaawati saying that the two leaders did not do anything for the development of Uttar Pradesh during their successive regimes.

While Mayawati and her ministers looted the state, Mulayam Singh Yadav's regime witnessed a ‘jungle raj’ and the criminals used to sit in the police stations and settle the issues , Rahul said while addressing an election meeting at Atarra in Banda district.

“Mulayam Singh never bothered about the plight of Bundelkhand, where people have died of hunger, he failed to deliver his promises though he was the chief minister thrice,” he said adding that his regime was also corrupt and no work was done without money.

Rahul continued his tirade against Mayawati charging her regime with being neck deep in corruption and looting the funds sent by the Centre for the development of the state. “Both Mulayam and Mayawati have plundered the state,” he alleged.

The Congress General Secretary has been touring the impoverished Bundelkhand region for the past four days addressing a series of election rallies. In all the rallies he has been flaunting the Central government’s flagship schemes of MNREGS, NRHM and Right to Food and also mentions the Bundelkhand package.
