Laughter is the best medicine. Yes, it seems to have had many takers with the growing number of laughter clubs in the state, including Mysore. It was evident with the city playing host to ‘Laughcon-2012, the 10th Karnataka State Laughter Clubs Convention at Rajendra Kalamandira in the city.

On Sunday, the second and closing day, the meet had an array of attractions. The day began with ‘Nage Maha Meravanige’ (mega rally of laughter clubs) from Shivarathreeshwara Circle near Gun House to the venue.

What made it unique in comparison with the rallies of different types taken out in the city till date, was the rallyists, with their mouth wide open, some giggling, some laughing to the hilt and some others making gestures reliving childhood with elderly persons irrespective of gender forming the chunk.

Highlight

It remained the highlight of the rally from the launch point to culmination — drawing curious eyes among passersby. A few among them dressed in traditional attire added colour to the rally.

Entertainment

Next, it was time for sumptuous breakfast followed by a performance of ventriloquist Suma Rajkumar, the city’s first ever woman artiste in the realm.

She struck the chord with the already lively gathering, who had made it a point to laugh heartily.

The doll here had found a crush on a young girl, doing engineering. But, it couldn’t win over the girl for being more than a prankster.

The felicitation ceremony was also not devoid of laughter with a recipient reading out the minds of the gathering, with a slice of fun. A huge cake to mark the moment of the conference was also cut.

Treat

An elderly man dressed as a saint, a young girl in desi get up with a shirt and dhoti walking amidst the meet proved a perfect treat for roving eyes.

Founder president of International Laughter Yoga Organisation Madan Kataria, president of Federation of State Laughter Clubs M R Basavaraju, founder director of Paramahamsa Yoga Cure Centre M R Seetaram were present on the occasion.
