Chennai-Mangalore coach derails

As the train was moving very slowly, only two pairs of the wheels of the S-7 coach jumped the rails and there was no injury to any passenger, railway sources said.

The mishap occurred at 3.25 am between Irugur and Podanur stations. The derailed coach was detached briefly for repair work and traffic was restored at 7.25 am. The train left Podanur station at 11.30 am.

There was no major delay to any other trains due to the derailment. A departmental inquiry has been ordered to investigate the cause of the derailment, the sources said.
