AIFF executive meet today

AIFF sources said the date for interviewing as many as 10 contenders for the job left vacant by Alberto Colaco would be decided by the Executive Committee. The committee will also fix the date of interview for the five applicants for the new post of I-League Chief Executive Officer.

Another important point in the agenda will be the progress made on the tricky issue of AFC Professional League requirements by the I-League clubs for their eligibility to play in the AFC Champions League -- Asia’s premier club competition.

Last year, due to the non-fulfilment of the AFC Pro League criteria by the I-League clubs, India missed out on a direct qualification in the revamped AFC Champions League. Preparation of the national teams for international competitions will also be on the agenda of the Executive Committee meeting.
