Units 1 and 8 at the Raichur Thermal Power Station (RTPS) have been shut down due to technical snag and shortage of coal.
On Saturday, the 210-MW capacity unit 1 developed technical problems and unit 8 was being repaired, said an official at the RTPS.
Unit 5 which was closed a week ago for repair has resumed operation, the official added.
At present 1,200 MW is being generated and the frequent technical glitches have been hampering the power generation. Over 5,000 metric tonne of coal is in the storage and five to six rakes of coal is being supplied everyday, the official said.
