School kids screened under Nehru Sehat Yojna

As many as 26,411 children studying in Delhi government schools have been screened for deficiencies, diseases and disabilities  under the Chacha Nehru Sehat Yojna during the last eight weeks of its operation, Health Minister A K Walia said on Monday.

In addition, as many as 9,908 schoolchildren attended the OPD run by doctors visiting their schools.
According to the health department, ailments were found in 12,772 cases while 5,527 kids were referred to hospitals for further investigation and treatment.

“More then 77 medical teams from government and 19 teams from the private sector are actively participating in the programme. The medical examination has so far been completed in 20 schools and is under progress in 37 schools,” said Walia.

The scheme envisages covering 14.74 lakh children studying in schools of Delhi government, MCD, NDMC, Delhi Cantonment Board, pre-school children in anganwadi centres and adolescent girls under SABLA programme.
