'Other' side of Balamuri beckons tourists

New attraction
Last Updated 01 February 2012, 17:49 IST

With a ban on place to avoid loss of precious lives and injuries sustained by people while they took a ‘jolly walk’ along the course of the submerged bund in Balamuri in Srirangapatna taluk, near Mandyakoppalu, visitors were only temporarily disappointed.

No sooner did the ban come into force, they have quickly gone ‘around’ the nature’s bounty of Balamuri, and are thronging another spot that is equally beautiful, if not more. And, that spot is none other than Mandyakoppalu, located between Srirangapatna-Bannur.

The number of visitors to Boredevara temple, on the banks of river Cauvery has suddenly increased manifold. The spot, which used to be busy only on weekends, more so on Sundays, is now witnessing a steady rush of visitors on all the days.

Teenagers and youths are in majority among the visitors. That there are no restrictions on this side of the river to get adventurous in water, and the spot being equally beautiful as Balamuri, has only added to the enthusiasm of the youngsters.

The bund that has been constructed to feed the Raja Parameshwari canal, is equally enticing as Balamuri. Bandisiddegowda bird sanctuary is just a stone’s throw away from this place, and winged visitors often make this place too, their temporary abode. The lush greenery beckons, and that there is no parking fees or entry fees has only made this place more attractive.
