No proper ventilation at classrooms which resemble a shed

Former legislator H M Vishwanath who was on a surprise visit to Morarji Desai Model Residential School at Bage village in Sakleshpur was in for a shock to see 94 students studying in a classroom that lacked proper ventilation and light.

More than 198 students are studying in the school which has classrooms that resembles not more than a cow shed. While 94 students spend the night in one room 104 girls have two rooms to spare.

There are no windows for ventilation purpose and it is literally a hell for the inmates who have to spend night after nights here.

That is not all, the 198 students have only three toilets and three bathrooms, that too without doors. Eight students sit on the benches that can accommodate only four during the classes.

Speaking to mediapersons, Vishwanath said that he had made a visit to the school upon the complaints received from the parents that their several memoranda against the school authorities  and MLA H K Kumaraswamy since the past two years have not received any response.

Though H K Kumaraswamy belongs to the same party as his, he would not tolerate his negligent attitude, he said. Though there is a proposal to shift the school to the Pragna Vidyasamsthe building at Anemahal, Kumaraswamy has directed the officials to continue the school in the same building which lacks basic amenities, he alleged.

He also warned of staging a protest against the school, with the students, parents and other organisations if the school is not shifted to the new building within a week.
