Actor Karibasavaiah no more

Comedian sustained serious spinal cord injuries in road accident

Popular film actor, comedian and Harikatha Vidwan, Karibasavaiah passed away at a private hospital here on Friday.

He was admitted with serious spinal cord injuries after he met with an accident on January 31.
Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda mourned the actor’s death and said Karibasavaiah was a talented artiste who had immensely contributed to the field of theatre and films.

Born in 1959, the multi-faceted actor, known for his natural performance, debuted in the tele-serial ‘Doddamane’. Director Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar, his mentor in the film industry gave him a chance in his Kannada movie ‘Undu Hoda Kondu Hoda’.

The combination of Karibasavaiah and Chandrashekhar gave many box-office hits and together they did many Kannada movies - ‘Baa Nalle Madhuchandrake’, ‘Kotreshi Kanasu’, ‘Nooru Janmaku’ and yet-to-be released ‘Breaking News’. The actor has acted in over 150 films.

Some of his memorable movies are ‘Janumada Jodi’, ‘Bhoo-Thayi Makkalu’, ‘Yaarige Salutthe Sambala’, ‘Thaayi’, ‘Police Story 2’, ‘Janapada’, ‘Magic Ajji’, ‘Right Aadhre’, ‘Durgi’, ‘Galate Aliyandru’, ‘Ulta Palta’, ‘Parichaya’, ‘Crazy Kutumba’, ‘Holi’, ‘Aithalakkadi’, ‘Ullasa Utsaha’, ‘Sri Moksha’ and ‘Five Idiots’.

Before stepping into the Tinsel Town he had served as lab assistant in Seshadripuram College.
Karibasavaiah was in distress since 2009 after his married daughter Radha committed suicide.
