A 27-year-old former banker has been arrested for assaulting a paan shopkeeper in a fit of rage over a minor matter in Rohini area of outer Delhi, police said on Friday. Komal Siddhu has been arrested over charges of attempt to cause culpable homicide, said Ashok Chand, deputy commissioner of police (crime and railways).

The action was taken over a complaint filed by the victim, Amarjeet Singh, 40. He told police that he was assaulted by Komal during an altercation at a market in Rohini Sector-8 on Tuesday.

“Amarjeet had sustained severe injuries during the incident and is still admitted at a hospital in Rohini,” Chand said.

Komal admitted that he had assaulted Amarjeet during the scuffle. Komal has earlier worked as a manager at a multinational bank in Dubai.
